Life is incredible when we allow it to transform us at every level. We can and should never be the same. Same is stagnant as change is the only constant! If there is one thing, I am learning from living in a new city is to flow with times. We are required to swim in these changing times with different strokes. Sometimes a simple backstroke is enough to enjoy good times, at times an underwater dive is necessary to duck high tides. And in some places a float is enough. It is like swimming, that ‘to live well’ is a super essential skill, which we all should learn or have. The key is to adjust and adapt at all times, so we unleash the true potential in life.
As Bhagwant Gita teaches us that purpose is actually found in our journey called life, and not what we can get out of it. That we should focus less on the outcomes and more on living well our lives with intention to transform and migrate into our new self. Be it stages from childhood to adulthood or from pain to pleasure. To live well three things are super important.
- Be balanced. We need sorrow to taste happiness, defeat is necessary to strive for victory and a rock bottom is ultra mandatory to bounce up. Times are all the same. It is our viewpoint or outlook, which makes them look different, adverse, or exciting. Like Krishna say, he is in us. Happiness is in us. We need to embrace the balance of being happy and feeling content. No matter what times bring, even if we don’t feel full or time is not as we want it to be, just face it with a smile. This positivity will help you sail through the ups and downs of life. Isn’t it why we all love playing on the see saw. It is the act of balance which gives us joy.
- Emotionally responsible. Like behavior, emotions are our responsibility. If you think someone else makes you frustrated, angry, sad, or happy, then you lack self-awareness. Emotions are our consciousness and no one else can induce them. We feel them as we process things in our head and heart. For example, at the glance of our child we feel happy, because we see reflection of our happiness in her. We walk cheerfully into workplace because we sense belonging to the purpose of our role. It is all of us and how we feel. So, when we think someone’s, behavior explodes our emotions, or a particular phase makes us uncomfortable, it is that we allow them to control our mind. When we don’t control our emotions; they will control or command us. To know yourselves more, be the experiencers, spectators, and selectors of emotions. It is our responsibility!
- Composure listening. Another aspect of living full is to listen with composure. This calmness to empty your mind and filling it again is a great enabler. To be able to hear self and other is healing yourself and them. Be available to absorb what others are doing, saying, or going through is essential to understand them as well as yourself. Talking is two ways. Connecting is one way, when we listen to others. A good connection, which stays for long is when you felt heard. Practice deliberately listening to others and self. Always remember a great compliment received and given is listening.
Only we can determine what is truly important to us. Have conviction to face all times with happiness in your heart, control on your emotions, and listening to every heartbeat around you. We shall discover wholly the life Krishna has created especially for you to live well!
